Where most cactus species do not need a lot of water, the Epiphyllum ackermanii does not like being dry. During the growing season - from April to September - it is important not to let the soil become too dry. In the winter months, the plant can hang in a cool place and water less.
The plant is not edible.

These cacti originally grow in tropical forests, nestled in trees and decaying vegetation.
